Fantastic post Joel, and thanks to Daniel doe the platform! The thing I keep thinking about is why so many leaders are so willing to delegate away their guidance and judgement to a black box. Surely this is exactly why they get the big bucks, and beyond that why would they want to trade agency for a few quick wins?

It's possibly because when tasks and decisions get repetitive, and the same judgement needs to be applied within pretty much fixed parameters, AI in theory should be able to handle it. But, as it stands right now with GPT 5.1/2, I wouldn't even trust it with the simplest of decisions.

I think it comes to a combination of pressure to show ai implementation at all costs, and a lack of understanding of how to use ai strategically

Thankfully, on the second point, they can draw some inspiration from your post. 😉

Judgment is still the job, tools just change the edges.

Really enjoyed putting this together. Thank you, Daniel!

Thank you Joel for such an insightful guest post. I liked how you have 4 questions to route what you can and should delegate - and what you shouldn’t.

One of my biggest career hacks. Mastering delegation then moving to "On The Business NOT In The Business" - this has enabled me to build multiple companies simultaneously and found multiple companies per year 🤫
