If I were Chinese, I might. There’s probably a Chinese national saying exactly the same thing about the UK as we speak. We are very different cultures. Whilst I’ve lived and worked in the Far East, I’m basically a Hykeham lad. On the subject of democracy, specifically, at least China is honest. The British are told they live in a democracy to the point they believe it. No doubt you’re familiar with Chomsky’s Propaganda Model.

The alternative, as noted in the feature, is China’s all in model. But would you want to live there?
